Join us in the fight to change the rules governing the economy and make finance work for us, not against us. Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund (AFREF) is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst, Special Projects, to lead our consumer financial protection work. The Senior Policy Analyst leading special projects will work with the Co-Executive Directors to staff a project anchored by AFREF and key allies to develop, explain, and build support for a set of principles for responding to possible financial crises, and for reimagining financial regulation to better serve the public interest. They will partner with AFREF program staff to help the organization tell a big picture story about the role of finance and financial regulation, including writing blog posts, op-eds, and more that explain the broader impacts of financial policy choices, and how and why they need to shift in order to advance economic and racial justice. This position will report to the Co-Executive Directors. AFREF played a leading role in winning passage of the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau; and we are driving the fight for broader transformations of the financial system to advance economic, racial, and social justice and to address climate change. AFREF’s staff develops policy and strategies in collaboration with a coalition of more than 200 consumer, civil rights, labor, grassroots, and other organizations, along with academics and other policy experts.
