About The Position

Strategic Communications is seeking a senior application engineer to design, build, and evolve integrated internal platforms spanning enterprise operations, financial systems, analytics, identity, and governance workflows. This role focuses on creating durable, cloud-native systems which unify data, processes, and access controls across multiple enterprise tools and teams. This position requires a hands-on engineer with strong architectural judgment who can operate effectively in ambiguous problem spaces and deliver systems which materially improve how the organization executes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field, OR Equivalent work experience required
  • 8+ years of experience in software/application development, with 3+ years in cloud-native application architecture.
  • 5–7 years of experience integrating SaaS business systems (CRM, marketing automation, work management, collaboration tools) and building automated workflows in business operations or go-to-market environments.
  • Senior-level experience building production enterprise application systems
  • Strong backend engineering background with full-stack capability where appropriate
  • Proficiency with modern programming languages commonly used in cloud environments, including Python, TypeScript, Java, or equivalents
  • Demonstrated experience integrating multiple SaaS and enterprise platforms via APIs and data pipelines
  • Hands-on experience designing and implementing SSO and identity integrations
  • Strong data modeling skills, including relational, analytical, and event-based models
  • Experience working directly with operational and business stakeholders to translate intent into technical solutions
  • Background Check - must be US citizen and possess or be capable of obtaining a security clearance (Secret clearance preferred)

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, including: Lambda, ECS/EKS, API Gateway S3, Athena, Glue, Redshift, or similar analytics services IAM, security boundaries, and least-privilege design
  • Experience with financial, billing, or subscription-based data models
  • Familiarity with observability tooling, metrics, logging, and operational dashboards
  • Experience building internal platforms, enablement tools, or operational systems
  • Comfort operating without fully specified requirements

Responsibilities

  • Platform Architecture and Engineering Design and implement cloud-native internal platforms integrating data, workflows, automation, and identity controls across enterprise systems
  • Build backend-centric systems with appropriate frontend enablement for internal users
  • Architect solutions prioritizing reliability, extensibility, security, and operational clarity
  • Own systems end-to-end, including design, implementation, deployment, and iteration
  • Enterprise Systems Integration Design and implement integrations with core enterprise platforms, including: Rev.io (formerly TigerPaw) for billing, subscriptions, and operational data HubSpot for CRM, pipeline, and customer lifecycle data QuickBooks for financials, invoicing, and accounting workflows Microsoft SharePoint for document management and collaboration Smartsheet for workflow tracking, project execution, and reporting
  • Normalize and reconcile data across systems with differing schemas, identifiers, and update cadences
  • Implement secure, auditable synchronization patterns using REST APIs, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and event-driven pipelines
  • Design idempotent, fault-tolerant integrations resilient to partial failures and upstream data inconsistencies
  • Identity, Access, and SSO Integration Design and implement Single Sign-On (SSO) and identity integrations across internal platforms and enterprise SaaS tools
  • Integrate with identity providers such as Okta and comparable IdP platforms
  • Implement authentication and authorization flows using standards including SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, and OpenID Connect
  • Design role-based and attribute-based access control models aligned with enterprise governance needs
  • Ensure identity integrations support auditability, least-privilege access, and clean lifecycle management
  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to align application-level identity design with enterprise IAM standards
  • Technical Enablement of Operations and Governance Translate operational, financial, and governance objectives into enforceable system behaviors
  • Design tooling embedding process controls, approval flows, and accountability into daily workflows
  • Reduce manual handoffs, spreadsheet dependency, and error-prone reconciliation processes
  • Cloud-Native Development Develop and maintain services using modern cloud patterns, including: Containerized workloads (ECS, EKS, or equivalent) Serverless functions and event-driven architectures (e.g., AWS Lambda, queues, events) Secure API layers and service-to-service integrations
  • Implement infrastructure-aware application design aligned with scalability, performance, and cost efficiency
  • Partner with infrastructure and security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship Provide architectural guidance and code-level leadership across internal development efforts
  • Establish patterns, standards, and reference implementations for platform and integration development
  • Mentor other engineers through design reviews, pairing, and technical direction
