About The Position

Join Guidewire as a Staff Software Engineer, Application Platform, and be part of the team building our next-generation platform. This platform provides the essential tools, services, and infrastructure that power modern insurance applications. You will be a technical leader on this platform, using AI coding tools to design and build core services that power developer experience, ensuring quality, scalability, and security. This is a senior, onsite, full-time role based in the United States. You will play a pivotal role in delivering operational excellence and transformative innovation for Guidewire's Product Development & Operations (PDO) organization. Our priorities include accelerating cloud and data platform adoption, and ensuring our solutions deliver measurable value and efficiency for customers. At Guidewire, you'll contribute to a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer-centricity, helping transform the way the world's P&C insurers do business.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with a strong track record in system design and building core platform services.
  • Experience with coding agents and automation tools.
  • Deep expertise in one of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, but able to quickly adjust to other languages.
  • Experience building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems at scale.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Guidewire's application platform, primarily focusing on backend services but with flexibility to occasionally work with infrastructure and frontend.
  • Apply agentic coding tools as Guidewire uses them to dramatically accelerate development.
  • Engineer for quality, scalability, availability, and security in every aspect of the platform.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations, supporting Guidewire's mission of operational excellence and transformative innovation.
  • Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
