About The Position

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc. When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it. An exciting career opportunity is open with Caterpillar Resource Industries Operations and Products (RIOP) Division in Rigid Frame Trucks Controls and Simulation team that supports product development of Iconic Caterpillar Hauling Products - Large Mining Trucks (LMT), and Off Highway/Quarry Construction Trucks (OHT/QCT). As a Senior Engineer , you will be responsible for developing Machine Simulation models and Digital Twins that will be used to estimate truck performance, cost per ton, machine dynamics, support control systems development, predict structural loads for various systems and perform virtual regulatory and ISO tests. You will be a full machine expert with understanding of functional interactions between various sub-systems and will guide the development and optimization of the same, and ensure that machine safety, performance, reliability, and durability targets are met. You will interface with the product-specific performance engineer, controls engineer, each of the powertrain and hydraulic system leads, and all L4 system teams, such as large structures, light structures, engine installation, etc., to understand and support the needs. Hands-on machine tuning at the proving grounds and customer sites is critical to our success. Will also work closely with data analytics teams to collect and analyze data required for machine performance, controls development, and validation. This position plays a key role in resolving critical CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) issues, developing simulation and validation procedures, and improving simulation and analysis capabilities that enable Single Phase NPI (New Product Introduction) deployment. Programs that you will support range from key component development (such as engine or transmissions) to strategic Zero Emissions Machine development.
