About The Position

enGene (NASDAQ: ENGN) is a late-stage biotechnology company mainstreaming genetic medicines through the delivery of therapeutics to mucosal tissues and other organs, whose lead product candidate, detalimogene voraplasmid, is being evaluated in an ongoing pivotal study for patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) with carcinoma in situ (Cis) who are unresponsive to BCG. For more information, visit enGene.com . Role We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll & Accounting Specialist to support our growing biotechnology organization. This role is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, benefits administration, accounts payable, and employee expense reporting. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with ADP and NetSuite , thrives in a fast-paced biotech environment, and ensures accuracy, compliance, and timely financial operations.

Requirements

  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or similar certification
  • Experience with expense management tools (e.g., Concur, Expensify)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Minimum Associate’s degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll, accounting, or finance roles (biotech, life sciences, or startup experience strongly preferred)
  • Hands-on experience with ADP payroll systems and NetSuite ERP
  • Strong knowledge of payroll laws, benefits administration, and accounting principles
  • Experience managing multi-state payroll preferred

Responsibilities

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for employees using ADP ,ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, and leave programs
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll and benefits inquiries
  • Coordinate payroll-related audits and ensure proper documentation and controls
  • Manage payroll taxes, filings, and reconciliations in coordination with external providers
  • Oversee full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice processing, approvals, and payments
  • Maintain accurate AP records in NetSuite
  • Reconcile AP subledger to general ledger and resolve discrepancies
  • Support vendor relationships and respond to inquiries
  • Review and process employee expense reports in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure proper coding, approvals, and timely reimbursement
  • Monitor policy compliance and recommend process improvements
  • Prepare and post payroll, benefits, AP, and expense-related journal entries in NetSuite and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Support financial audits and internal controls
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, andOperations teams
