About The Position

The Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for the Swedish Cancer Institute on multiple campuses, exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties. Requirements

• Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months
• Within 6 months (180 days) of hire Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
• 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physician’s office, scheduler, etc.)
• Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree in Emphasis in Health Care.
• Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care.

Responsibilities

• Scheduling of new patients
• Scheduling of follow-up clinic appointments
• Scheduling of subsequent treatments
• Scheduling of requested diagnostic tests
• Acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations
• Preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record
• Reconciling billing issues
• Answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls
