About The Position

The Senior Patient Services Specialist provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for Swedish, exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties. Responsibilities include: scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests, acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls. Requirements

  • Coursework/Training Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months
  • Within 6 months (180 days) of hire: Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course
  • 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physician’s office, scheduler, etc.)
  • Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in Health Care, or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school with an emphasis in healthcare
