About The Position

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to support a mission‑critical environment in a hybrid capacity at the EDC. This role requires candidates to be within commuting distance and offers a collaborative environment focused on Oracle RAC, ASM, and RHEL-based database operations.
As a Senior Oracle Database Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing an enterprise-scale Oracle 19c RAC/ASM environment running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). You will oversee database performance, backups, recovery, security, and lifecycle activities while ensuring high availability, reliability, and adherence to best practices in a complex production setting.

Requirements

• Oracle RAC and ASM administration expertise.
• Strong knowledge of Oracle 19c architecture and features, including Pluggable Databases (PDBs).
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) shell scripting experience.
• RMAN backup and restore operations proficiency.
• Performance tuning and optimization of Oracle databases.
• Patch management and applying PSU/CU updates.
• Experience with tools such as OEM, AWR, and ASH reports for monitoring and analysis.
• Knowledge of database encryption and compliance (TDE, key management).
• Capacity planning and recommendations for database growth.
• Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Experience with Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery and high availability.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and advanced database administration tasks for Oracle 19c RAC and ASM environments.
• Implement and maintain database backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Manage access security, database integrity, and physical data storage design.
• Oversee database performance management and supervise performance tuning activities.
• Author shell scripts for backup, restore, and monitoring tasks.
• Monitor database performance, space requirements, and optimize system resources.
• Identify and track issues, risks, and action items; provide accurate and timely solutions.
• Assist in coordinating software releases and upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices.
• Work collaboratively in a team environment while being capable of independent execution of tasks.
