About The Position

Fathom Management, Inc. is seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to support a mission-critical Oracle 19c environment for the Pennsylvania Office of Administration. This role is ideal for a hands-on DBA with deep expertise in Oracle RAC, ASM, and Oracle 19c architecture, capable of managing both routine database operations and advanced performance, security, and recovery tasks. The position is primarily remote, with occasional on-site requirements in Harrisburg, PA.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Oracle RAC and ASM administration
  • Deep knowledge of Oracle 19c architecture, including Pluggable Databases (PDBs)
  • Proficiency in Linux (RHEL) shell scripting
  • Hands-on experience with RMAN backup and recovery
  • Experience with performance tuning at database and SQL levels
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL scripting skills
  • Experience with patch management (PSU/CPU updates)
  • Familiarity with OEM, AWR, ADDM, and ASH
  • Experience with database security, encryption, and auditing
  • Ability to perform capacity planning and forecasting

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and advanced administration of Oracle 19c databases in RAC and ASM environments.
  • Manage database integrity, storage structures, and system configurations.
  • Oversee physical data storage design and capacity planning.
  • Implement and maintain backup and recovery strategies using RMAN.
  • Ensure data integrity, availability, and security compliance.
  • Apply database security hardening practices, including encryption and auditing.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using OEM (Oracle Enterprise Manager), AWR (Automatic Workload Repository), ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor), and ASH (Active Session History)
  • Perform SQL query tuning and database performance optimization.
  • Monitor space utilization and system resource allocation.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts (RHEL/Linux) for backup and restore processes, monitoring and alerting, and automation of routine DBA tasks
  • Utilize SQL and PL/SQL scripting for troubleshooting and system enhancements.
  • Perform patch management, including application of PSU/CPU updates.
  • Coordinate and support database upgrades and software releases.
  • Track and report issues, risks, and action items.
  • Provide timely status updates to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams while also working independently on complex tasks.
