About The Position

This position will oversee several high-profile sites. Is responsible for Caravan Facilities Management’s operating strategy and account development at the client location, knows the client’s operating profile, current and potential service requirements, and alternatives for creative service applications, labor utilization and application of new technologies.  Determines the resource levels required by the site and secures client authorization for adjustments to the services, staffing, equipment, and material contracts.   The Senior Operations Director maintains close communication with key senior managers at the plant, as well as Caravan FM’s direct reporting lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems, Internet software, Inventory software, Manufacturing software, Order processing systems, Payroll systems, Project Management software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software.
  • Regional travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance & Oversight: Ensure all staff and subcontractors comply with customer and company safety requirements; review incident reports and corrective actions; observe safety practices during site visits; conduct monthly safety briefings.
  • Operational Planning & Efficiency: Oversee the Site Operating Plan (tasks, frequencies, staffing, materials, equipment) to meet contract needs and safety standards; identify process, technology, material flow, and staffing improvements to enhance performance and reduce costs.
  • Customer Coordination & Issue Resolution: Adjust operations based on customer feedback; build relationships with senior customer leaders; resolve major complaints promptly and implement root‑cause corrections.
  • Hiring & Personnel Management: Provide hiring guidelines, participate in interviews, and approve site manager recommendations; ensure proper new‑hire processing for HR, payroll, safety, and training; review training schedules; validate disciplinary actions and documentation before terminations.
  • Business Growth & Opportunities: Identify new business opportunities in projects, contract staffing, and new services; advise sales on customer background, plans, and key personnel.
