About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Operations Consultant to join our Optimization and Transformation team. This role drives operational excellence by partnering with Operations, Underwriting, Sales, and Claims teams to discover, analyze, and transform business processes across the organization. You will conduct discovery sessions to understand end-to-end operations, design future-state operating models, and support strategic initiatives including platform migrations, automation implementations, and operating models, including consolidating multiple groups into unified operations with standardized workflows. Beyond project-based work, you will serve as an ongoing business process partner to field teams, providing continuous support for process innovation and problem-solving. You will also act as a liaison between business operations and cross-functional partners including Operational Delivery & Implementation, Finance, and Technology. Success requires deep knowledge of insurance operations, exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, and a proven ability to design operating models, champion recommendations, and sustain excellence through ongoing partnership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Minimum 5 years in Insurance Operations with focus on process improvement and optimization within a Wholesale Agency, MGA, or Carrier environment
  • Demonstrated experience designing or implementing operating model transformations or organizational redesigns
  • Proven ability to analyze, optimize, and document complex, cross-functional business processes with focus on technology enablement
  • Experience with process cost analysis, capacity planning, and resource modeling
  • Track record of serving as a trusted advisor and process partner to operational teams
  • Strong project management capabilities with ability to manage multiple workstreams and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Experience supporting technology implementations, platform migrations, or digital transformation initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (data analysis, financial modeling), Visio (process mapping), Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Experience with process mapping methodologies and tools (value stream mapping, swimlane diagrams, SIPOC)
  • Strong business case development, financial modeling, and ROI analysis skills
  • Understanding of system integration concepts, data flow mapping, and business requirements documentation
  • Familiarity with automation technologies (RPA, workflow automation) and organizational design frameworks
  • Strategic thinking with ability to balance business needs, operational capabilities, and technology constraints
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills; ability to present complex recommendations to executive leadership
  • Strong facilitation skills for workshops, discovery sessions, business reviews, and strategic planning meetings
  • Ability to bridge business, operations, finance, and technology—translating needs across functional areas
  • Flexibility to balance strategic project work with responsive field team support
  • Self-directed execution in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with minimal direction
  • Change management and stakeholder management expertise across all organizational levels
  • Coaching and influencing skills to drive adoption of process excellence principles

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) or similar process improvement methodology certification

  • Hands-on knowledge of insurance systems (policy administration, rating engines, document management, CRM)

Responsibilities

  • Discovery, Analysis & Requirements Gathering Conduct structured discovery sessions with Operations, Underwriting, Sales, Claims, and other stakeholders to map current-state processes, system dependencies, pain points, and business requirements
  • Lead operational diagnostics to identify inefficiencies, capability gaps, manual workarounds, and digitization opportunities
  • Facilitate value stream mapping to visualize end-to-end workflows and identify automation opportunities
  • Document as-is processes and operating models to support transformation planning and technology solution design
  • Assess organizational design, roles, operational capacity, and technology utilization to inform operating model recommendations
  • Continuous Improvement & Field Partnership Serve as a dedicated business process partner to assigned field teams, providing ongoing advisory support for operational excellence
  • Facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, Kaizen events, and rapid problem-solving sessions
  • Monitor process performance metrics and proactively identify optimization opportunities
  • Coach teams on process thinking and problem-solving methodologies to build a culture of continuous improvement
  • Provide process guidance during and after major implementations to ensure sustained adoption
  • Pilot innovative approaches with field teams and scale successful practices across the organization
  • Gap Analysis & Operating Model Design Conduct gap analyses comparing current capabilities against available tools, platforms, and technology solutions
  • Assess process maturity and technology readiness across business units to prioritize transformation investments
  • Analyze process costs, labor utilization, and capacity constraints to quantify efficiency opportunities
  • Design future-state operating models that optimize organizational structure, process flow, technology capabilities, and resource allocation
  • Develop strategic recommendations for consolidation strategies, shared services models, centers of excellence, and span of control optimization
  • Create business cases with scenario modeling, trade-off analysis, and ROI projections to support executive decision-making
  • Process Optimization & Technology Enablement Lead consolidation efforts to unify fragmented operations into standardized, scalable processes that support platform migration
  • Identify and prioritize automation opportunities including RPA, workflow automation, and digital tools
  • Draft business requirements and functional specifications for platform migrations and technology enhancements
  • Business Reviews & Executive Reporting Draft executive summaries, business review presentations, and strategic assessments for leadership
  • Facilitate cross-functional review sessions with Operations, OpEx Delivery & Implementation, Finance, Technology, and executive leadership
  • Develop dashboard and reporting frameworks to track transformation progress and business outcomes
  • Translate complex operational and technical information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner with Operational Excellence Delivery & Implementation teams to ensure seamless handoff of requirements and process designs for execution
  • Collaborate with Finance on business cases, cost-benefit analyses, budgeting, and ROI projections
  • Coordinate with Change Management and Training teams to support adoption of new operating models and processes
  • Facilitate executive workshops and decision-making sessions to build alignment on transformation priorities
  • Bridge field operations and corporate functions to ensure operational insights inform strategic decisions
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including operating models, workflow maps, RACI matrices, procedure guides, and process inventories
