About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions Inc., (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Operational Test Director. You will be responsible for enhancing Air Reserve Component (ARC) aircraft capabilities in accordance with ARC WEPTAC derived priorities. You will research and foster new funding streams, prospective technologies, and partnership relationships with various government and industry entities to enhance these objectives. You will oversee the integration of these new systems and execute development functions in support of test events for the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC) in Tucson, AZ. Duties will include but are not limited to: Investigate / recommend new technologies, oversee a portfolio of test events, and monitor/manage/champion emerging programs to ensure the successful coordination and execution of a wide range of developmental and operational test events. Advise government personnel on new developments in complex defense technology and will utilize these leading-edge technologies to formulate Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), effectively integrate new technologies into these concepts, and advise government customers on the best utilization of existing and emerging programs. Directly interface with high-level government leaders, program offices, and industry vendors to advise and keep them abreast of latest tactical and technical developments. Responsible for both conceptual and technical implementation of required software and hardware architecture into ARC aircraft, along with the synchronization efforts with the applicable program office. Provide expertise in the following areas: fighter weapon systems; tactical subject matter expert; operational and developmental test planning & execution; CONOPs development. Understand the operation and tactical applications of ARC systems and their interfaces with Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve aircraft and systems as the candidate will operate in fast paced teams of industry, government and military personnel consisting of engineers, analysts, scientists, pilots, and other aircrew. Directly support AATC/JCC in the development of advanced combat systems from cradle to grave in an independent, high-energy environment and will operate in multidisciplinary teams of industry and government personnel.

Requirements

  • At least 20 years operational and/or operational/developmental test experience in USAF fighter aircraft as an operator.
  • Strong background in USAF fighter systems, tactical employment, and development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Background in USAF/USN combat aircraft systems, tactical employment, and development of tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Background in classified special access programs and procedures.
  • Experience with aircraft test and development, to include test provisioning/scheduling, test execution and reporting.
  • Strong ability to work in an integrated product team environment with demonstrated leadership and customer interface skills.
  • Good analytical skills and be capable of operating in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to draft clear, concise reports, and to provide technical guidance and briefings.
  • The ability to work effectively with other program offices, other USG and DoD agencies, and senior US and foreign government officials at a variety of venues.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
  • Must have a can-do attitude and be self-starting, ambitious, and hard-working.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Technical/engineering discipline is desired.
  • Active Secret security clearance required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance and meet eligibility requirements for Special Access Program (SAP).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

  • Graduate of US Test Pilot School / Weapons Instructor Course.
  • Master’s degree in a technical discipline is desired.
