About The Position

The Senior Occupational Health Nurse is accountable for leading and delivering advanced occupational health and wellness services to employees in full compliance with Lonza standards and all applicable regulatory requirements. This role provides clinical expertise for the management of occupational injuries and illnesses and serves as a senior member of the medical emergency response team, ensuring preparedness, oversight, and effective response. The Senior Occupational Health Nurse assumes responsibility for guiding clinical decision-making, mentoring and supporting Occupational Health Nurses, and partnering with cross‑functional stakeholders to drive high‑quality health, safety, and wellness programs. This role plays a key part in program development, continuous improvement, regulatory readiness, and risk mitigation, contributing to a proactive occupational health culture and the overall safety performance of the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Lead and manage site health programs that ensure regulatory compliance, prevent injuries and illnesses, and support a safe, healthy workplace.
  • Independently manage occupational health cases, including injury care, workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work, and fit‑for‑duty evaluations to minimize lost time.
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for occupational health, partnering cross‑functionally to drive informed decision‑making and continuous improvement.
  • Operate and lead the on‑site health center, delivering high‑quality clinical care, required medical testing, health coaching, and employee education.
  • Drive results through strong collaboration, agility, business acumen, and leadership while ensuring accurate reporting, EMR compliance, and data confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) certification preferred / a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and continuously improve site health programs to meet regulatory requirements and prevent workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Independently manage occupational health case care, including injury treatment, workers’ compensation, return‑to‑work, and fit‑for‑duty evaluations.
  • Serve as the site subject matter expert for occupational health, injury/illness prevention, and health risk management.
  • Lead site health initiatives and projects, partnering with employees and contractors to achieve measurable health and safety improvements.
  • Partner with emergency response teams to deliver timely basic and advanced life support and support overall site emergency readiness.
  • Lead on‑site health center operations, administer required medical testing, and deliver high‑quality clinical care and health coaching.
  • Ensure full compliance with EMR systems, data privacy standards, and accurate, timely injury/illness reporting and employee training.
