About The Position

This position performs architecting, designing, traffic engineering, installing, managing, integrating, and optimizing the performance and capacity of the enterprise network for the City of Doral. Duties include integrating and troubleshooting issues regarding security, data, video, VoIP, applications, cloud, and wireless operations around multiple locations and hybrid data centers. This position is classified as an exempt, full-time position with a 40 hour work-week.

Requirements

  • Must possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited college or university
  • At least four (4) years of progressive technical specialization and work in one of the following areas: Network and Systems Security. Including Intrusion Detection Systems, Firewall security, Public key infrastructures, Digital signature deployment, advanced domain security. Virtualization Infrastructure Management and Administration. Backup and Replication Management. Client encrypted virtualization software. TCP/IP Network Design and implementation. Including routing, firewall implementation. Microsoft Domain Management's Systems. Including IIS, Domain deployment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience that fulfills the requirements of the position may be considered.
  • A valid Florida Driver's License, with an acceptable driving record, is required.
  • Knowledge of information technology hardware, software, and networking principles and processes.
  • Knowledge of IT architecture and design.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of IT best practices.
  • Knowledge of network security, data, VoIP, video, eFax, wireless, servers, endpoints, printers, cloud services, and applications systems.
  • Knowledge of a range of diagnostic utilities.
  • Skill in communicating, both verbally and in writing.
  • Skill in creating and maintaining documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Certifications qualifying individual with expertise in Network Management and Server Management preferred.
  • Certifications desired: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP); Cisco Certified Network Professional Enterprise (CCNP-E); Criminal Justice Information System Security (CJIS Level 4); and Pal Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Associate (PCCSA).
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots network connectivity or performance problems as well as provides technical support for network security, data, VoIP, video, eFax, wireless, servers, endpoints, printers, cloud services, and applications system in order to determine causes of failure; implements appropriate remedies following best practices.
  • Integrates solution systems and cloud services with the City's infrastructure.
  • Plans as well as creates engineered designs and architecture for the network infrastructure, network security, data, VoIP, video, eFax, wireless, servers, endpoints, printers, cloud services, IoT, and applications systems.
  • Operates, manages, and optimizes network routers and switches, wireless access points, firewalls, IPS/IDS, phone, and eFax system, network balances, network monitoring tools, VPN system, and other systems; conducts system patching, updates, and migrations.
  • Monitors and addresses issues of networks and systems.
  • Installs physical hardware and software/systems related to network infrastructure, network security, data, VoIP, video, eFax, wireless, servers, endpoints, printers, cloud services, IoT, and applications systems.
  • Collaborates and coordinates meetings with others related to common projects.
  • Leads related technical projects working with consultants and vendors; supervises work; and conducts the configuration/provision portion of the City's infrastructure.
  • Produces and maintains network documentation, such as technical diagrams, users' guides, procedures, policies, settings, and troubleshooting actions to continuously improve the performance, availability, reliability, integrity, and security of the City's data network, voice, wireless, cloud workflows, and video infrastructure.
  • Prepares technical documents and reports as requested by management or Department Heads.
  • Assists in the development of the Department's budget; makes recommendations regarding expenditures.
  • Opens tickets and escalates incidents with service providers should issues arise.
  • Conducts the City's facilities surveys for upgrades or acquisition of net technologies or future changes.
  • Supervises assigned technical workers.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
