ABOUT THE POSITION The Senior Network Administrator plays a vital role in ensuring the Court's network infrastructure remains secure, reliable, and high-performing. This position independently installs, configures, and maintains routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices while applying critical security patches and firmware updates. Senior Administrators diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, latency, and bottlenecks, deploying monitoring tools to safeguard uptime and meet service level agreements. They also integrate new hardware and software into existing systems, provide technical guidance to IT staff and end users, and contribute to disaster recovery readiness. Beyond daily operations, the role may involve moderately complex design tasks, vendor coordination, and information security assignments, offering opportunities to expand technical expertise. Requirements

  • OPTION I: 6+ years' experience in network design and/or administration.
  • OPTION II: Associate's degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field; -AND- 3+ years' experience in network design and/or administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in information technology, computer science, or related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA); Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP Enterprise).
  • Demonstrated expertise in diagnosing and resolving complex outages and performance issues using tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or Thousand Eyes.
  • Solid understanding of network security principles including encryption, intrusion detection, and patch management.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and VPN connectivity in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or Cisco Catalyst Center to streamline network operations.
  • Experience supporting disaster recovery procedures and maintaining uptime/service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with sysadmins, developers, and security specialists to ensure smooth network operations.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure Configuration: Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices to ensure secure and reliable connectivity across the enterprise.
  • Performance Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor network performance against KPIs, deploy security and performance monitoring tools, and independently diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, latency, and bottlenecks.
  • Security & Patch Management: Apply security patches, firmware updates, and firewall rules to safeguard network integrity while supporting compliance with organizational policies and standards.
  • System Integration & Optimization: Install and integrate new hardware or software into existing networks, ensuring compatibility, stability, and improved performance.
  • Disaster Recovery & Continuity: Configure and verify regular data and configuration backups, maintain disaster recovery procedures, and ensure readiness to restore services in case of failures.
  • Technical Support & Collaboration: Provide technical guidance to IT staff and end users, collaborate with other departments, and coordinate with vendors to resolve networking-related issues and support enterprise operations.
