About The Position

The Senior Molecular Biology Associate I will support the development of new plasmid DNA purification processes for preclinical and GMP manufacturing. The role also involves supporting ongoing construct assembly and plasmid production. This position requires a hands-on approach and relies on strong expertise in bacterial systems, plasmid purification, and molecular biology techniques to help optimize processes, design experiments, analyze data, and prepare technical documentation within a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline with +5 years of hands-on experience.
  • Hands-on experience with plasmid DNA purification.
  • Experience with molecular biology techniques, including cloning, restriction enzyme digestion, sequencing analysis, qPCR, and ddPCR.
  • Experience designing and assembling constructs using molecular biology and sequence analysis software.
  • Experience supporting process development or optimization activities in a PD/R&D environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP concepts and regulated documentation practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of bacterial culture protocols, including aseptic technique and safe handling of biological materials.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and data integrity.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in a team-based environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform molecular biology assays, including qPCR, ddPCR, restriction enzyme digest, and other related analytical techniques.
  • Execute on plasmid DNA production activity according to defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Batch Production Records (BPRs).
  • Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot plasmid purification processes with a focus on scalability and GMP readiness.
  • Author and review protocols, reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform molecular cloning and construct assembly, including restriction digests, ligations, transformations, and clone screening.
  • Design DNA constructs using molecular biology software and analyze sequencing data to confirm construct identity and integrity.
  • Maintain accurate experimental records in accordance with cGMPs.
  • Coordinate preventive and emergency maintenance, while demonstrating proper equipment use.
  • Assist the Department in identifying and executing ongoing improvement initiatives to meet operational objectives.
  • Collaborate effectively within the molecular biology team and across cross-functional teams.
