Senior MLS Microbiology Days Laboratory
About The Position
This position involves performing waived, moderate, and high complexity testing in a clinical laboratory setting, adhering to CLIA ‘88 guidelines. The role requires interpreting and reporting results for established tests and examinations in various fields including Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. The successful candidate must comprehend the theories and concepts for each procedure and effectively communicate these to physicians and other hospital staff. Key responsibilities also include performing quality control, quality assurance, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role involves providing oversight of clinical processes for all department staff, which includes managing CAP surveys, competency assessment, and training. Clerical tasks and other related laboratory services may also be part of the duties.
Requirements
- A master’s or bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
- Minimum of two years of experience
- MLS (ASCP or AMT) certification
Responsibilities
- Performs waived, moderate, and high complexity testing according to CLIA ‘88 guidelines
- Interprets and reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of the following fields within the clinical laboratory: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Blood Bank and Microbiology
- Comprehends the theories and concepts for each procedure
- Utilizes independent thinking and communication skills to confer these concepts to physicians and other members of the hospital staff
- Performs quality control, quality assurance, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Provides oversight of clinical processes for all department staff, including CAP surveys, competency assessment, and training
- May include clerical tasks and related laboratory services
