About The Position

Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base. Orla is advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part of our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We also operate the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. Orla also operates the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history and the potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come. As Orla continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Mine Engineer – Short Range Planning to join our team and play a key role in supporting the success of our operations. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, data-driven short-range mine plans and schedules that support safe, predictable, and efficient mining execution. You will also support key studies, influence mine design improvements, and lead continuous-improvement initiatives that enhance long-term performance at the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mine engineering or related field required.
  • Five or more years of short and medium-range mine planning experience in open-pit hard-rock operations.
  • Three or more years of senior-level mine planning engineering experience, including delivering executable plans, leading planning cycles, and supporting cross-functional technical work.
  • Advanced proficiency in mine planning software for generating and optimizing plans and schedules.
  • Strong capability in using FMS data for planning, forecasting, and reconciliation.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional inputs and aligning plans with operational constraints.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operating environment.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate level or higher).
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop daily, weekly, and 13-week mine plans that align with operational readiness and strategic objectives.
  • Build executable short-range sequencing for ore and waste, including dig polygons and drill and blast designs.
  • Use FMS data to analyze cycle times, payloads, queues, and compliance-to-plan.
  • Lead reconciliation processes to identify root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive initiatives that improve fragmentation, haulage efficiency, cost per ton, and overall productivity.
  • Contribute to optimization of haulage routes, cutback designs, and short-term mining strategies.
  • Integrate planning with maintenance availability modeling and metallurgical requirements where applicable.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support development of technical capabilities within the team.
  • Contribute to technical studies, cutback updates, annual budgeting, and design improvements.
  • Ensure all plans and designs meet MSHA standards, geotechnical requirements, and environmental compliance.
  • Embed safety and regulatory considerations in all short-range engineering outputs.
