Mine Engineer Mine Engineer Mine Engineer provides advanced engineering management across mine planning, design, production optimization, reclamation, and regulatory compliance. This role oversees multiyear mine development strategies, leads cross functional technical teams, and ensures ore supply, cost control, and safety performance align to long range business objectives. The position serves as a key technical authority influencing capital planning, operational excellence, geologic integration, and long-term asset value. This position is based in Soda Springs, Idaho, and plays a crucial role in delivering budgeted ore and quartzite quantities safely and efficiently to the Soda Springs plant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related field;
  • Valid Driver’s License;
  • Expertise in hydraulic analysis and pump system design and implementation;
  • Working knowledge of surface mine operations;
  • Proficiency with computerized mine applications, including industry-standard mine planning software, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Strong communication and team skills;
  • Three years of mining experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of haul road design and slope stability programs.

Responsibilities

  • Create short-range mine plans for up to 1 year that align with long-term mining plans, including waste, ore, and quartzite volumes, and develop commensurate my schedules;
  • Work closely with on-site mining contractors, mining department, and plant staff to develop and implement cost-effective, environmentally sound mining plans;
  • Identify and implement projects with on-site contractors to reduce production costs, enhance safety, and improve product quality;
  • Ensure key risks are addressed in the design process, focusing on environmental impacts, safety, and pit dewatering;
  • Develop digital designs and schedules incorporating best practices, cost control, and ES&H compliance;
  • Utilize computerized geologic models to create block and grade models for detailed ore reserve calculations;
  • Prepare detailed maps, cross sections, and drawings reflecting accurate geologic and topographic features;
  • Develop reclamation plans in collaboration with contractors, department staff, and government agencies;
  • Perform production reconciliation by calculating mined volumes and comparing them with contractor logs;
  • Estimate mine costs and recalculate bonding requirements periodically as required by BLM;
  • Design in-pit and external water pumping systems, ensuring environmental compliance;
  • Provide engineering support for water management activities and forecast/budget planning for dewatering;
  • Serve as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) for the department and assist with inspections and audits.
