About The Position

A Senior MS Fabric Administrator is responsible for leading the administration, governance, and optimization of enterprise-scale Fabric environments with a focus on Power BI, ensuring secure, scalable, and compliant data access across the organization. This role applies advanced technical expertise to manage Power BI Service, automate platform operations, and enforce governance standards aligned with enterprise data policies. The administrator ensures all practices are in strict adherence to credit union regulatory requirements and industry best practices, promoting data integrity, operational transparency, and compliance across all reporting and analytics initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration, data analytics, or business intelligence platforms
  • 3+ years of experience managing enterprise-scale Power BI environments (Fabric experience is preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in technical leadership roles, driving platform governance and best practices
  • Experience administering Microsoft Fabric Tenant & Capacity Management with demonstrated knowledge of Power BI architecture, Microsoft Entra ID access control, and securing semantic models for the enterprise
  • Strong experience with REST APIs (Power BI, Microsoft Graph) and Webhooks for automation and monitoring
  • Proven experience in leading governance initiatives and driving platform adoption
  • Experience with enterprise data tools such as SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Microsoft Purview
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with data engineers, analysts, and IT Teams

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft certifications such as DP-600 or DP-700 are highly desirable
  • Understanding of core credit union or banking systems is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage and configure Microsoft Fabric tenant settings, capacities, and workspace policies
  • Lead efforts to manage and optimize Power BI workspaces, datasets, semantic models, and deployment pipelines
  • Administer Microsoft Fabric architecture including Lakehouse, OneLake, Data Activator, and Data Mesh
  • Monitor usage and performance via admin portals and capacity metrics dashboards
  • Ensure that all system activities (e.g., access, changes, and usage) are recorded in audit logs
  • Configure and manage RBAC, Row-Level Security (RLS), and Object-Level Security (OLS)
  • Implement sensitivity labels and data loss prevention (DLP) policies
  • Enforce workspace naming standards and monitor audit logs
  • Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulatory requirements by identifying gaps, collaborating with governance teams, and serving as a subject matter expert on risk procedures and best practices
  • Utilize tools such as Microsoft Purview for metadata scanning, lineage tracking, and federated governance
  • Implement CI/CD practices using Power BI REST APIs, Git-backed workspaces, and automation tools to streamline content promotion and reduce manual effort
  • Administer Fabric using REST APIs, PowerShell, and SDKs
  • Oversee and optimize deployment pipelines across development and production environments
  • Establish and maintain on-premises data gateway connections for datasets requiring secure access to internal sources
  • Automate tasks and reporting using DAX, Power Query (M), and scripting tools
  • Lead integration efforts across Microsoft Fabric, GitHub, Power Platform, and other enterprise platforms to ensure seamless data operations, version control, and compliance
  • Manage licensing models (Fabric, Power BI Pro, Premium Per User)
  • Monitor and optimize capacity units for performance and cost-efficiency
  • Manage data refresh schedules and gateway configurations
  • Leverage enterprise data tools including SQL Server, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, and Microsoft Purview
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure alignment between data development and deployment processes
  • Provide advanced support for data analytics and business intelligence initiatives
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders and leadership
