At Parallel Fluidics, we are building the infrastructure to power the next generation of life science tools. We seek a skilled Micro Injection Molding Engineer to lead and optimize our microinjection molding processes for producing cutting-edge microfluidic devices and precision components. This role involves a hands-on approach to developing, scaling, and improving molding operations while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced startup environment.

  • Process Development: Design and optimize microinjection molding processes for manufacturing high-precision microfluidic devices.
  • Develop and implement protocols for material selection, tooling, and part production to ensure consistent quality.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Oversee the design, testing, and fabrication of molds, including micro-scale tooling.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and in-house teams for mold fabrication and modifications.
  • Program and operate molding machines, ensuring they meet production specifications.
  • Quality and Troubleshooting: Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize metrology tools to inspect molded components for precision and compliance with specifications.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of production parameters and performance metrics.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to align processes with company goals.
  • Provide technical expertise to support customer inquiries and product development efforts.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in injection molding technologies and materials.
  • Drive innovations in process efficiency, cycle time reduction, and sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in injection molding, with a focus on microinjection processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Fusion, Hypermill).
  • Deep understanding of thermoplastics and other materials used in microfluidic manufacturing.
  • Proven track record of effectively manufacturing micro-scale components.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in cleanroom environments.
  • Familiarity with automation systems and robotics for molding operations.
  • Knowledge of advanced inspection systems for micro-scale manufacturing.
  • Experience in early-stage startups or innovative product development settings.
