Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Metrology Expert with specialized expertise as a CMM Technician and Trainer. This individual will have extensive experience in programming, operating, and interpreting results from Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs). The role combines hands-on technical work with a strong training and collaborative component, supporting Engineering teams during product development by defining GD&T strategies and assisting in inspection and layout of concept parts. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in metrology, calibration, or measurement science, with a strong focus on CMM programming and operation.
  • Proven expertise with CMM equipment and metrology software.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T principles and their application in product design and manufacturing.
  • Experience training engineers or technical staff on measurement equipment and inspection techniques.
  • Proficiency with measurement instruments, calibration procedures, and standards (e.g., ISO, ASTM).
  • Experience with design and implementation of inspection fixturing and gauges.
  • Proficiency designing and executing Measurement System Analysis (MSA) experiments and documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and quality teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Zeiss metrology equipment (CMMs, optical scanners, or related systems).
  • Certification in metrology or calibration (e.g., CCT, CIM, or equivalent).
  • Experience working in manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, or similar precision-driven industries.
  • Familiarity with automation and data acquisition systems.

Responsibilities

  • Program, operate, and interpret results from CMM equipment to ensure accurate measurement and quality control.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering teams during the design and prototyping phases to conduct full layouts of concept parts.
  • Train engineers and other team members on CMM usage, inspection techniques, and interpretation of measurement results.
  • Advise on measurement capabilities and limitations to inform design decisions and ensure manufacturability.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain metrology procedures and standards.
  • Calibrate and validate measurement equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Analyze measurement data and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  • Support design reviews with expertise in measurement science and GD&T interpretation.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation for audits and compliance purposes.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in metrology technology and best practices.
