About The Position

The Senior MEP Superintendent I (Electrical) is a seasoned field leader responsible for overseeing the electrical scope of large-scale, mission-critical construction projects from pre-construction through turnover and closeout. Acting as the owner’s and/or contractor’s field representative, this role drives safe, high-quality installation and execution of electrical systems while ensuring alignment with design intent, schedule milestones, commissioning readiness, and client objectives. This position provides advanced leadership in field execution, trade coordination, constructability, quality assurance, schedule performance, and turnover readiness for mission-critical electrical infrastructure. The Senior MEP Superintendent I (Electrical) is expected to independently manage day-to-day field activities, lead coordination with contractors and stakeholders, resolve complex site challenges, and support successful delivery of hyperscale data center projects. The Senior MEP Superintendent I (Electrical) will be self-directed on day-to-day work and receive high-level instruction on new projects, tasks, or assignments. Will execute and lead teams and projects, tasks, or assignments of complex scope. May coordinate activities of other personnel. The Senior MEP Superintendent I (Electrical) will communicate and operate in line with organizational and client goals and values, as well as departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and construction practices in mission-critical environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of commissioning readiness and turnover requirements for electrical infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, construction procedures, and best practices for mission-critical MEP delivery.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction of mission-critical, commercial buildings, or other structures.
  • Knowledge of the importance of the Method of Procedure (MOP) process, work notifications, and operational risk controls.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing field teams, subcontractors, and multiple stakeholders on complex construction projects.
  • Demonstrated direct experience overseeing hyperscale data center projects.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures, including NFPA 70E, LOTO, and OSHA standards.
  • Skilled in field coordination, schedule management, and driving work to completion in high-pressure environments.
  • Skilled in reviewing drawings, specifications, submittals, and installation plans for constructability and field execution.
  • Skilled in identifying risks, evaluating field issues, and developing practical, timely solutions.
  • Skilled in stakeholder management and representing the owner and/or project team with professionalism.
  • Skilled in construction management tools such as Procore, BIM 360/ACC, and Bluebeam.
  • Skilled in organizing documentation, reporting, and field records with strong attention to detail.
  • Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams), along with exceptional organizational skills for file management.
  • Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows, optimize operational processes, and contribute to company-wide innovation.
  • Ability to work independently with limited oversight and exercise sound judgment in the field.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related discipline.
  • Five years of hands-on installation, testing, validation, or troubleshooting of electrical, controls, and/or mechanical infrastructure.
  • Minimum of eight years of additional related experience, including progressive experience in electrical construction leadership with demonstrated experience on large-scale, mission-critical, or hyperscale data center projects.

Responsibilities

  • Translate project objectives into actionable field execution plans for electrical scopes across complex mission-critical projects.
  • Lead day-to-day site oversight of electrical installation activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents.
  • Serve as a senior field resource for mission-critical electrical systems, installation sequencing, construction readiness, and turnover planning.
  • Drive accountability for field performance, quality standards, schedule adherence, and installation best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement of construction execution processes, field coordination methods, and turnover readiness practices.
  • Oversee installation of mission-critical electrical systems including, but not limited to, medium-voltage and low-voltage distribution systems, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, battery systems, PDUs, RPPs, busway, grounding systems, cable tray, structured cabling infrastructure, and associated support systems.
  • Monitor subcontractor and vendor performance to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, codes, client standards, and project requirements.
  • Verify installation quality, completeness, labeling, accessibility, maintainability, and readiness for startup and commissioning activities.
  • Review field progress and identify risks related to means and methods, manpower, sequencing, logistics, and material availability.
  • Ensure direct oversight experience is applied to hyperscale data center construction environments and fast-paced mission-critical project delivery.
  • Lead electrical trade coordination with mechanical, controls, structural, architectural, fire protection, commissioning, and operations stakeholders.
  • Support pull planning, short-interval planning, look-ahead schedules, and milestone tracking for electrical activities.
  • Identify schedule impacts early and drive recovery strategies with contractors and project leadership.
  • Coordinate equipment delivery, rigging, setting, access planning, and installation sequencing to maintain project flow and reduce disruptions.
  • Participate in construction meetings, field walks, and readiness reviews to communicate progress, constraints, and action items.
  • Validate compliance with QA/QC requirements and installation standards for electrical systems in mission-critical environments.
  • Promote a zero-incident culture through strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental procedures, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, and site-specific safety requirements.
  • Inspect ongoing work for workmanship, conformance, completeness, and readiness for testing and turnover.
  • Support development and implementation of corrective actions for deficient work, nonconformance items, and field installation issues.
  • Reinforce operational risk awareness, MOP discipline, and safe work execution in active or partially active critical environments.
  • Coordinate with commissioning teams to support systemization, startup, functional testing, integrated systems testing, and turnover.
  • Confirm electrical systems are installed and documented in a manner that supports efficient commissioning execution and operational handoff.
  • Participate in punchlist management, deficiency tracking, and verification of issue resolution.
  • Ensure turnover documentation, as-builts, test results, O&M manuals, and training requirements are progressing in alignment with project milestones.
  • Support owner readiness and transition to operations through verification of system completeness, training coordination, and closeout support.
  • Represent project interests professionally with contractors, vendors, designers, commissioning teams, and clients.
  • Provide clear reporting on field progress, risks, quality concerns, schedule impacts, and recovery actions.
  • Escalate critical issues with appropriate recommendations and supporting field data.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and execution status.
  • Identify opportunities and lead the strategic use of technology, digital platforms, and AI-enabled tools to enhance efficiency through workflow automation, reduced manual effort, and improved accuracy in forecasting, documentation, reporting, and quality processes.
  • Support adoption of emerging technologies - including advanced analytics, data visualization tools, and digital construction management platforms - to strengthen readiness, quality assurance, and project controls.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure technology solutions align with DLB standards for data security, privacy, and operational integrity.
  • Promote a culture that embraces innovation, continuous improvement, and the strategic use of technology to optimize performance and scalability.
