Position Summary: The Senior Medical Record Assistant files and maintains medical documents and correspondence as received in the appropriate patient medical record. The incumbent also maintains workflow and productivity by assigning and reviewing work, answering questions, and resolving problems in the unit. Requirements

  • Prior experience working in an acute care hospital medical record department
  • Must work in accordance with HIPAA
  • Must maintain work product accuracy standards of 95% or better
  • Good keyboard skills with ability to accurately transfer information from eye to keyboard without transposing information
  • Good eye-hand coordination to be able to page through stacks of paper and quickly observe misfiles
  • Computer operating skills to include login and logoff, opening, closing, saving and copying files and printing documents
  • Able to locate patient name and select correct episode for type of record to be prepped
  • Able to correctly save work performed on electronic files
  • Ability to perform job functions and make task-related decisions with limited direct supervision
  • Ability to learn to calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot scanning equipment
