Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • At least 5 years experience as a Mechanical Engineer, but 8+ years is preferred.
  • Strong background in Material Handling/automation industry.
  • Experience in a Mechanical Engineering position that is project-based (design to installation).
  • Strong communication skills/presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization to the successful completion of moderately complex assignments.
  • Successfully applies knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues.
  • Travels up to 20% of the time to different customer locations/Dematic locations

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in CET Configura and Autocad is highly preferred.
  • Familiar with Amazon DC installation type (ARS, IXD, SSD, Air Hub, non-sort).
  • Familiarity with Amazon specific MTBH, rates, and sub-system designs.
  • Familiar with Amazon design specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Own and execute mechanical engineering scope for assigned Amazon modernization/retrofit projects
  • Ensure project targets are met for quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
  • Anticipate issues and address proactively where appropriate
  • Maintain up-to-date project log through department project tracking tool
  • Regularly report on project portfolio performance including but not limited to: on-time delivery, budget, quality, risks
  • Own short-term monthly forecast across assigned projects regardless of resource reporting.
  • Completes the design of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.
  • Completes complex material specification, schematic preparation and appropriate follow-up.
  • Completes recommendations for ideas related to productivity improvement, cost reduction and improvement in customer satisfaction.
  • Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system design.
  • Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills to deal with most situations.
  • Master understanding of project schedule and budget for Mechanical Engineering functions.
  • Communicates, trains and works with customer for final system design.
