About The Position

As CACI's Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will serve as a mechanical engineering subject matter expert and be responsible for generating Technical Data Packages (TDP) for various DoD Test systems. These TDPs include various drawing types (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and will be generated using 3-D and 2-D design tools (SolidWorks/AutoCAD). You will work with other engineers to capture complex designs with adherence to multiple Military Specification Standards, fabrication specifications, and integration of electromechanical systems intended for deployment in challenging environments with attention to dynamic mechanical and thermal loads.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Five (or more) years of experience with system development for military weapon/test systems.
  • Experience in development of systems to requirements and verification of requirements (Test Planning) with emphasis on ruggedization and environmental requirements.
  • Product development experience through production.
  • Design and development in a risk averse environment.
  • Experience with design reviews and justifying designs/development (Requirements Traceability Matrix Development and conformance management).
  • Technical performance measurement and instrumentation.
  • Professional work developing mechanical/electrical drawings from conceptual design using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other design capture tools (3-D and 2-D drawings).
  • Ability to solve complex and difficult problems.
  • Provide valuable and creative inputs to system designs, solutions, and procedures.
  • Work onsite in San Antonio, TX
  • Willing and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Current and active Secret clearance preferred.

  • Experience and knowledge of military maintenance organizational structure.

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000B.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.
  • Proficient in applying GD&T.
  • Knowledge and use of ISO 9001, AS9100 or CMMI quality process standards.
  • Support equipment development in accordance with (IAW) MIL-PRF-28800, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461.
  • Familiarity with government FAR and DFARS.
  • Product life cycle management IAW IEEE 15288.
  • Seasoned technical individual contributor.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Mentor, coach, and review the work of lower-level professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Test Program Set (TPS) and other aviation test developers through product life cycle management (concept to delivery) of test systems within cost, scope, and schedule by example and by mentoring.
  • Assist the test system development teams in: Operational, functional and physical allocation at both the system level and the component level; hardware architecture design, development; requirements satisfaction.
  • Support hardware design and testing of integrated systems for nuclear certification.
  • Assembly and packaging for ruggedization to withstand harsh elements in challenging environments.
  • Plan and execute systems validation and certification tests in accordance with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, IPxx, or equivalent environmental standards.
  • Coordinate team efforts with management and engineering lead.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding developmental efforts.
