Requirements

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience performing engineering-related duties
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, Draftsight, AutoCAD, and other CAD software
  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Flow Simulation, and SolidWorks Simulation
  • Expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards
  • Skilled in Root Cause Analysis for effective problem-solving
  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective collaboration and communication with colleagues and customers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of MIL-STDs, VITA Standards, and NASA Standards preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design robust mechanical modules, subsystems, and integrated microwave assemblies incorporating mixed signal RF and digital electronics using 3D CAD software.
  • Develop rugged mechanical hardware such as heat sinks and enclosures for 3U and 6U VPX modules that comply to VITA standards and environmental specifications.
  • Utilize computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis to simulate thermal performance of designs to ensure compliance with thermal requirements.
  • Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) to perform frequency, structural, and static studies on modules and subsystems to determine resonant frequencies, stress, strain, and fatigue life.
  • Generate detailed fabrication drawings incorporating geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Create thorough assembly instructions, bill of materials (BOMs), and test reports for designs.
  • Assist in preparation and submission of data packages and contract deliverable reports.
  • Support engineering requests from various functional areas, including Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality.
  • Collaborate with systems, PCB layout, and RF engineers in cross-functional teams throughout product development lifecycles.
  • Evaluate customer proposals to assess the feasibility of the mechanical design and contribute expertise in refining requirements to ensure successful implementation.
