About The Position

Sr Mechanical Engineer On-site in Huntsville, AL Target salary range: $90,000 - $120,000.00/Year Active Secret Clearance Required to Start Responsibilities: Design mechanical parts, assemblies, subsystems, and full systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar), including drafting, review, revision, and release of engineering drawings. Participate in or lead small cross-functional design teams focused on product development and production support in an Agile Hardware environment. Collaborate with Production, Procurement, Systems Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless product integration and support. Create and maintain engineering documentation such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), analysis reports, and data packages. Perform and document mechanical engineering analyses, including structural, thermal, transportability, and weight/center of mass evaluations. Independently manage assignments with minimal oversight and resolve complex technical challenges with innovative solutions. Prepare and submit contract deliverables and technical data packages. Mentor and provide informal training to junior engineers and interns. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Clearance: Active Secret security clearance required. Experience: Minimum 5 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience. Core Competencies: Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting using SolidWorks or similar tools. Skilled in reviewing mechanical drawings per ASME standards. Proven ability to lead or contribute to collaborative technical teams solving complex mechanical design challenges. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter, SmarTeam, Windchill, Workgroup PDM). Familiarity with MRP systems, such as SAP. Background in electronics integration, payload systems, or command-and-control (C2) hardware. Exposure to production or manufacturing environments supporting hardware development. Experience working within Agile for Hardware or similar iterative engineering workflows. Leadership experience in small or cross-functional engineering teams.
