About The Position

This position repairs, alters, constructs, modifies, and uses all acceptable methods and practices to provide routine and preventative maintenance in a normally acceptable fashion established by supervision.

Requirements

  • Drivers License
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical equipment as normally acquired through experience, trade, or vocational school and/or established training program.
  • Two years' experience in the classification of Mechanic required.
  • Ability to test, operate and repair mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Ability to interpret prints, schematics, specifications, and codes.
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all weather.
  • Job requires a regard for and significant adherence to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake.

Responsibilities

  • Works from verbal and written orders, sketches, drawings and manufacturer's specifications.
  • Performs programmed and preventative maintenance.
  • Installs, lubricates and repairs machinery, mechanical, and other equipment.
  • Lays out, constructs, alters, repairs buildings and grounds including, but not limited to, partitions, doors, floors, concrete forms, plumbing fixtures, etc. using skills in plumbing, masonry, carpentry, refrigeration and electricity, gardening, yard, and grounds maintenance.
  • Uses necessary tools, machines and equipment pertinent to the work performed.
  • Must be familiar and comply with all governing agencies, i.e., TJC, MIOSHA, Michigan Department of Community Health, Fire Marshal, codes, regulations and procedures pertaining to the overall maintenance operation such as refrigeration, building, electricity, powerhouse, fire, and safety.
  • Works alone or with more experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Instructs and/or helps less experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Lends and is a helper to other maintenance skills as required and/or directed.
  • Copes with and handles discrepancies and variations from regular system or procedures, which may occasionally arise.
  • Maintains records.
  • Performs other duties as required.
  • Demonstrate competency in Microsoft Windows.
  • May be required to participate in further learning opportunities offered by MyMichigan Health.
