As the Senior Material Handling & Traffic Supervisor, you will lead the daily execution of material flow and shipping operations that directly support production success. You’ll oversee a team responsible for safely moving, storing, and shipping materials while driving efficiency, accuracy, and continuous improvement across the operation.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience.
  • Working experience within materials, logistics, or similar role within a manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Working experience with Shipping / Material Handling processes.
  • Experience in a production union environment
  • SAP or other ERP system experience
  • Experience overseeing domestic and international shipping operations in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Working knowledge of transportation management, freight coordination, and carrier performance management
  • Familiarity with Global Trade Compliance requirements including import/export regulations, customs documentation, and Incoterms

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the daily activities of the material handling team, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to production areas.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve efficiency and productivity in material handling operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Train and mentor material handling staff, promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular inspections of material handling equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and safe operation.
  • Analyze material handling processes and recommend improvements to reduce costs and enhance efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on material handling activities, including inventory levels, discrepancies, and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with functional teams to ensure good communication amongst groups.
  • Supervise and direct the daily activities for processing of all shipping paperwork for Traffic team.
  • Ensure compliance in shipping for Global Trade, Hazardous Goods and all specialty shipping methods.
