About The Position

As a Senior Marketing Specialist, you’ll take the lead on marketing and communications for Security Benefit’s Education channel, supporting retirement plans for public school districts nationwide. You’ll collaborate across teams to bring creative campaigns to life, strengthen our brand, and help drive engagement with clients and financial partners. You’ll blend strategy and creativity—writing and designing materials, managing projects, and guiding both internal teams and external vendors to deliver clear, compelling messages that connect with educators and partners. The Senior Marketing Specialist will report directly to the Director of Marketing, Wholesaled Solutions and be based out of our home office in Topeka, Kansas. We work a hybrid schedule, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field.
  • 6+ years of marketing or communications experience, ideally in financial services (experience with 403(b), 457, or IRA products is a plus).
  • Strong understanding of marketing strategy, branding, advertising, media, and public relations.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and project management skills—you can juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A strategic thinker with curiosity, creativity, and solid business judgment.
  • A collaborative, proactive team player who can build relationships across departments and influence outcomes.
  • Comfort working with complex financial concepts and translating them into clear, engaging communications.
  • Experience managing vendors or agencies and executing marketing plans from concept to delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute marketing campaigns for the K–12 public school market, collaborating with sales and marketing teams to plan, create, and launch initiatives.
  • Support strategic relationships with trade associations and union partners by designing effective experiences and content that connect with their member base
  • Create and maintain marketing materials—digital campaigns, sales sheets, presentations, videos, brochures, and event content—to support business goals and ensure consistent messaging.
  • Work closely with sales leaders to refine materials based on field feedback and evolving client needs.
  • Manage budgets and marketing calendars to keep projects organized, on time, and on budget.
  • Research competitors and market trends to strengthen marketing strategies and identify opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leaders in Operations and Distribution teams to position and communicate product and business process changes.
