About the Role: Wing is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our Quality Team based onsite in Dallas, Texas . The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated and highly disciplined person who enjoys working in a fast paced and highly dynamic team environment. The successful candidate is able to demonstrate solid records and experience in production quality, hardware failure analysis and project management. This candidate should be a team player working with Contract Manufacturer (CM) teams, Operations Management, Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing engineering and other teams. The candidate should be able to drive CM’s mfg quality issue resolution and effectively communicate to management, cross functional teams, as well as the CM(s).

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality engineering role that manages product from NPI to significant volumes at the manufacturing stage
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical/Industrial/Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; equivalent experience may be considered
  • Industrial experience in Electro-Mechanical assemblies, injection molding, CNC machining, die casting, mechanical assembly, testing and PCBA SMT
  • Understanding GD&T, tolerance stack up and design
  • Ability to effectively communicate with cross functional teams and leadership team
  • Strong manufacturing background in developing robust and repeatable processes to scale new products, including process qualification, process quality control and line qualification in a rapid schedule
  • Experience with application of standards such as AS9100, ISO9001, TS16949, IPC-A-610
  • Expert in driving engineering requirements, and continuous quality improvement at vendors and contract manufacturers
  • Capable of identifying the time when help is needed and ask for help
  • Statistical SW usage experience like Minitab, JMP, Statistica, R, Python etc.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience; prefer a Six Sigma Black Belt
  • Understanding of PPAP, APQP, GD&T, GRR, Cpk/Ppk, Control Charts, Aware of concepts of ESD, Functional testing methodologies, CAN bus testing, use of DAQs to collect data from Thermocouples etc.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute advanced quality plans, including incoming, in-process, and outgoing quality checks for Contract Manufacturer (CM) assemblies and components.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering, Hardware EE, Reliability, and Manufacturing teams to review specification requirements for fit, function, and reliability.
  • Manage assembly line qualifications across various stages of the product life cycle, ensuring smooth transitions from NPI to mass production.
  • Audit and assess CM processes (including SMT) and quality systems; partner with the Supplier Quality team to drive sub-tier supplier SCARs when necessary.
  • Model a "zero defect" culture by coaching CMs to deliver best-in-class products and minimize non-compliance.
  • Identify and qualify potential new suppliers by assessing their manufacturing processes, material knowledge, and testing capabilities.
  • Establish and monitor KPI targets and SPC controls for CM assembly stations to maintain process capability and identify Critical-to-Quality (CTP) parameters.
  • Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives ("cost-out" projects) without sacrificing quality standards.
  • Analyze massive datasets to track quality metrics, perform trend analysis, and report on production yield improvements to Wing leadership.
  • Oversee incoming and final inspections to maintain First Pass Yield (FPY) targets.
