About the Role: Nexteer is looking for a qualified candidate to join our team as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer and play a key role in advancing automotive steering technologies. This position focuses on Columns, Intermediate Shafts (I-Shafts), Column Intermediate Shafts (CIS), and Hand Wheel Actuators (HWA). We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong technical expertise and proven problem-solving skills to drive process improvements and support new product launches.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in automotive manufacturing with a focus on Columns, CIS, I-Shaft, and knowledge of Hand Wheel Actuators.
  • Strong knowledge of machining, assembly, and material processes.
  • Proven experience with problem-solving tools: Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing, PFMEA, and Control Plans.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher)
  • Additional Lean/Continuous Improvement certifications preferred
  • Experience with automation and robotics manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of GD&T and automotive quality standards (IATF 16949) preferred
  • Proficiency in CAD and manufacturing simulation tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering projects for Manual & Power Columns, I-Shaft, and Hand Wheel Actuator manufacturing processes.
  • Develop and optimize production methods to improve efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges.
  • Implement root cause analysis and corrective actions for process issues.
  • Support new product launches and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured problem-solving methodologies.
