About The Position

Lightship is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to optimize the production of our high-quality luxury recreational vehicle. This role focuses on enhancing efficiency and capacity by evaluating current manufacturing processes, developing and implementing new production plans, and reducing overall manufacturing costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electric, Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or evidence of exceptional experience in related fields or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing environments (preferably automotive or aerospace).
  • Planning capacity increases and production floor layouts and line balancing
  • Providing manufacturing floor support, designing, creating, and improving jigs and fixtures.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment to execute tasks under general direction.
  • Experience working successfully in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Reading and understanding GD&T drawings and technical documents.
  • Solid presentation and computer skills (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Projects, etc.)
  • Experience with NPI and transition to production.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret engineering drawings, apply manufacturing knowledge, and use digital tools to design efficient, high-quality processes, jigs, and workstations.
  • Select and procure equipment, tools, and fixtures that meet Lightship specifications and project needs, ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
  • Use structured problem-solving and process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, improve quality, and enhance efficiency.
  • Assists with line capacity planning and leads yield improvement projects in collaboration with management and inputs from engineering.
  • Estimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements.
  • Using feedback from product quality, provides corrective action and monitors implementation.
  • Drives continuous improvement projects to elevate product performance in manufacturing.
  • Complete readiness assessments and ensure successful launches into production.
  • Develop and maintain production documentation (work instructions, test procedures, etc.)
  • Multi-tasking and active engagement in the production environment.
  • Identify risks to production and implement mitigation plans.
  • Assists production personnel with troubleshooting and guidance resolving everyday issues.
  • Participate in daily standup meetings to ensure daily goals are met as needed.
