About The Position

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at one site. As Manufacturing Engineering manager on this campus, you will play a crucial role overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for both businesses, ensuring safety, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness while managing a team of engineers. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment. Reporting to the Senior manager of manufacturing services for the campus, this position is also responsible for process development, team management, collaboration, continuous improvement, compliance, budget management and technical support.

Requirements

  • At least 7+ years of experience in managing manufacturing engineering role
  • Experience with Solidworks software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing best practices and industry standards.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

  • Experience working within a CI environment
  • Six Sigma Blackbelt
  • Experience with new startups (greenfield/ brown field)
  • Experience working withing a matrixed campus environment
  • Experience with new machine acquisition and validation (SAT, FAT)
  • Background in automated sheetmetal fabrication, welding, painting and assembly of large products

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safe manufacturing processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability
  • Along with the manufacturing engineer, perform detailed statistical analyses, creating logical summaries concerning plant performance and facility layout
  • Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using leading operations design and simulation tools
  • Manage the estimation of production costs and efficiency
  • Implement strategies to improve quality and productivity
  • Participate in the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems
  • Provide technical expertise to production supervisors and management on methods, time studies, production standards, and workforce practices to maximize efficiency
  • Coordinate with design engineering and manufacturing teams on industrialization of new product launch activities
  • Ensure compliance with industry safety and design standards and guidelines
  • Develop operational budgets and control costs within budget
  • Keep abreast with latest manufacturing technologies and systems to improve processes
  • Establishment of production QC control plans, job safety analyses, lean design
  • Capable of managing capital projects of $1M+; implement cost productivity targets in support of 3%+ COGS targets
