About The Position

Are you passionate about driving sustainability and making a significant impact? As a Sr. Manager, Strategic Initiatives at Walmart, you'll lead key initiatives in Private Brands, Global Sourcing, and Merchandising to develop and embed environmentally sustainable packaging strategies. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with executive leaders and leverage Walmart's resources to create meaningful change.

Requirements

  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes related to sustainability and plastics and packaging.
  • Experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within a large matrixed and relationship-based organization.
  • Innovative Mindset: A passion for staying at the forefront of industry trends, a natural curiosity for "what's next," and the ability to translate future-forward concepts into tangible solutions.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to use financial modeling and cost-benefit analysis to make business decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and drive change management.
  • Proven ability to identify sustainability risks and opportunities and develop effective strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills for articulating sustainability initiatives to stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 4 years' experience managing cross-functional projects for governmental or non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, or corporations OR 7 years' experience managing cross-functional projects for governmental or non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, or corporations.
  • 4 years' experience managing project teams in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with Walmart's business objectives and values.
  • Collaborate with merchants and suppliers to integrate sustainable practices into the supply chain.
  • Identify and assess sustainability risks and opportunities in packaging and develop strategies to address them.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed sustainable packaging into business processes across merchandising, sourcing, supply chain, and finance.
  • Develop business cases for sustainable packaging and alternatives, including extended producer responsibility and future regulatory changes.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) in packaging to measure the success of sustainability initiatives, including Project Gigaton.
