About The Position

Senior Manager, Software Engineering, Full Stack (Enterprise Platforms Technology) As the Senior Manager of Software Engineering for the AI DevEx team, you will lead the strategic vision, technical integration, and enterprise-wide scaling of GenAI developer tools at Capital One. You will own the ecosystem that empowers over 15,000 engineers to build software faster and safer. Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One’s most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices. In this highly visible role, you will lead a talented team of engineers while acting as a strategic bridge across Product, Cyber, Risk, and external vendor partners. You will not only manage the deployment of frontier AI tools like GitHub Copilot and Agent Mode, but also define the telemetry, risk frameworks, and adoption campaigns that prove their value. We are looking for an empathetic "whole leader" who can navigate enterprise complexity, make data-driven "no-go" decisions on vendor POCs, and foster an exceptional engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 6 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
  • At least 1 year experience with cloud computing (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud)
  • At least 4 years of people management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2+ years proven track record of evaluating, piloting, and deploying Generative AI or LLM-based coding assistants (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Windsurf, etc.) in a highly regulated environment.
  • 2+ years exceptional cross-functional influence and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical/AI concepts to executive stakeholders.
  • 2+ years experience managing vendor relationships and large-scale technical proof-of-concepts.

Responsibilities

  • People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of 10+ software engineers, fostering a culture of psychological safety, resilience, and engineering excellence.
  • Enterprise AI Strategy: Own the roadmap and lifecycle of AI coding assistance tools. Drive massive scale and adoption campaigns across the enterprise while improving developer satisfaction (NPS) and productivity metrics.
  • Risk & Compliance Management: Proactively partner with Information Security, Legal, and Risk stakeholders to evaluate, mitigate, and safely release high-impact AI features (e.g., Premium models, CLI, Xcode, Custom Instructions).
  • Vendor & Stakeholder Influence: Act as the primary technical voice with key industry partners to resolve critical issues, enhance enterprise telemetry, and influence their product roadmaps to meet Capital One’s stringent standards.
  • Data-Driven Engineering: Champion the creation of robust telemetry and data pipelines to track granular usage, productivity gains, and financial ROI of AI tools across the organization.
