About The Position

The Senior Manager, Procurement, Contract Manufacturing is responsible for developing global sourcing strategies for all Electronic Contract Manufacturing. This role will provide leadership for indirect reports and display critical thinking and expertise of Contract Manufacturing cost and operational structures to advance Baxter Global Business Units (GBUs) mission agenda to Sustain and Save Lives. The role involves supplier relationship management, pricing, and risk assessment, developing and implementing strategies for multi-sourcing and assurance of supply, and leading negotiations and contracting. This individual will develop robust category strategies to reduce the supply base, decrease dependence on single/sole sourced suppliers, ensure continuity of supply, and achieve annual cost reductions. They will also deliver annual MIP (cost reductions) and PPV objectives at category and plant levels, and jointly address supplier quality issues with supplier quality teams. The role includes joint development and execution of long-term strategies aligned with the External Contract Manufacturing strategy to optimize Baxter’s global position in terms of quality, cycle/response time, technology, risk, and total cost. The Senior Manager will partner with Baxter’s R&D organization to mitigate risk and continuously develop and improve supplier systems and processes, and use technology, VA/VE, and purchasing power to reduce overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation and optimization of supplier agreements. They will lead the strategy for a cross-functional, cross-divisional commodity team in developing and implementing strategies and goals for assigned commodities, supporting business objectives, contract ownership, quality assurance, technology/new product development, risk mitigation, and total cost. The role also involves owning strategies that extend through the global supply chain, including primary and sub-tier suppliers, and effectively managing long-term relationships with suppliers and internal partners.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Procurement or Supply Chain.
Strong decision maker surrounding multi-million dollar contracts and agreements and major policies.
Strong ability to communicate effectively to senior leadership both internally and externally.
Risk management abilities required to drive innovative solutions and problem solving analysis and resolution.
Seasoned negotiator with knowledge of cost tools such as material breakdown, benchmarking, value analysis, value engineering, complex RFQ’s and innovative purchasing tools.
Strong project management skills to drive projects to closure.
High level technical and financial proficiency.
Ability to think strategically and globally.
Ability to manage diverse partner interests and expectations.
Strong understanding in building category strategies and complex pricing arrangements and supplier profitability.
Strong ethical background.
Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal, analytical and presentation skills.
Travel of 25-40% including global travel.

MBA desirable.
CPM desirable.
Experience in a regulated and highly technical environment preferred, such as experience in the Automotive, Aerospace, Industrial OEM, and/or Medical Device industries.
Contract Manufacturing, Electronic and/or electromechanical knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of root cause analysis, problem-solving, continuous improvement, corrective and preventative action, product quality assurance systems, and supplier performance development and evaluation is helpful.

Responsible for using technology, VA/VE, and purchasing power to reduce the overall cost of ownership and acquisition through strategic negotiation and optimization of supplier agreements.
