About The Position

As the Senior Manager, Planning and Development – Corporate Strategy, you will serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership and a critical driver of enterprise-wide insight generation, strategic planning, and performance analysis. In this highly visible role, you will own the conversion of complex data into actionable insights that inform decisions across the Corporate Strategy Team and Strategic Business Units. You will lead cross functional analytical workstreams, shape long term planning assumptions, and provide guidance that directly supports the company’s growth, profitability, and competitive positioning. Reporting directly to the Planning and Development Director, you will be based at PPG headquarters in downtown Pittsburgh.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field; MBA strongly preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience in strategy, analytics, business planning, finance, or a related analytical discipline.
  • Demonstrated strategic, financial, and analytical acumen, with strong business judgment and an understanding of enterprise level operations and systems.
  • Proven ability to lead independent workstreams, structure complex problems, and deliver insights with minimal oversight.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills, with the ability to engage effectively and inclusively at all organizational levels.
  • Highly skilled in data interpretation, quantitative analysis, and problem solving.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast changing environments while maintaining clarity and direction.
  • Advanced proficiency in HFM, Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; strong digital literacy across the MS Suite.
  • High degree of discretion, and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Insight & Market Intelligence Collaborate with the Investor Relations team to compile and analyze competitive intelligence, conducting detailed reviews of peer and competitor financial performance after planned disclosures and unexpected market events.
  • Own the enterprise market insight agenda, collaborating with SBUs to define intelligence needs and deliver high impact analyses that strengthen long range planning.
  • Lead proactive monitoring of industry dynamics, competitive actions, and macroeconomic shifts, translating findings into implications and recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Create high quality executive presentations for the Operating Committee and the Board of Directors, ensuring clear storytelling, analytical rigor, and strategic alignment.
  • Enterprise Strategic Planning Ensure integration of internal and external data (P&L, market share, economic indicators, customer data) to build fact-based strategic viewpoints and decision frameworks.
  • Support leadership with strategic and financial analysis for the annual strategy planning process and regional business reviews by providing guidance and strategic context across businesses and functional teams.
  • Help guide the strategic lens of the annual business strategy planning process, ensuring that financial plans reflect enterprise priorities, external trends, and growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Corporate Strategy leaders to synthesize cross business insights, identify strategic themes, and shape enterprise level priorities.
  • Performance Tracking & Reporting Maintain ownership of economic trend reporting, translating macroeconomic data into clear business implications and planning adjustments.
  • Manage ad hoc and high visibility strategic analyses with speed, precision, and executive ready storytelling.
  • Partner with S&T to track, monitor, and proactively assess the performance and progress of NPI projects, ensuring alignment with milestones, timelines, and strategic objectives including outside the can solutions.
