About The Position

Skyryse is seeking a Senior Manager, People Systems & Operations to lead our People Systems function and manage a team of People Operations Coordinators. Reporting directly to the Head of People, this role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution to build scalable processes, enhance system integrity, and deliver a world-class employee experience. As the HRIS subject matter expert and systems owner, you'll play a pivotal role in scaling our people infrastructure to support rapid growth while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and an exceptional employee experience. The ideal candidate brings both technical expertise and strategic thinking, with the ability to roll up their sleeves and execute in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive HR or People Operations experience, including at least 3 years focused on HRIS administration.
  • 2+ years of experience managing or mentoring HR/People Operations staff.
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Proven success managing payroll and benefits operations.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience managing complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • High discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High sense of urgency and flexibility to pivot priorities quickly

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of People Operations Coordinators, establishing clear expectations, driving accountability, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
  • Manage all activities within the HRIS (UKG) system, including payroll, compensation, benefits, Time & Attendance, LMS, surveys, performance management, and analytics.
  • Serve as the HRIS (UKG) subject matter expert, owning system configuration, integrations, file feeds, audits, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee payroll processing, timekeeping, leave management, and benefits administration to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Design, implement, and continuously refine compensation, benefits, and employee recognition programs aligned with business needs and market trends.
  • Serve as the primary contact for benefit brokers, identifying opportunities to enhance or update benefit offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HR requirements and serve as the point of contact for audits, reporting, and regulatory reviews.
  • Maintain and enhance data integrity across all People systems, ensuring accurate employee records and seamless workflows.
  • Develop and maintain detailed reporting and dashboards, providing actionable analytics and insights to the People leadership team (e.g., turnover, time-to-fill, headcount, compensation metrics).
  • Lead system and process improvement initiatives to streamline operations, automate manual tasks, and enhance the employee and manager experience.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, IT, etc.) to support company-wide initiatives and ensure operational alignment.
  • Oversee and guide execution of onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing employee lifecycle processes, ensuring consistency and quality across the team.
  • Manage vendor relationships for HR technology and People Operations tools, ensuring maximum ROI and alignment with organizational needs.
  • Support or lead ad hoc HR projects and programs consistent with a fast-moving, high-growth technology environment.
  • Act as an advisor and escalation point for complex operational, systems, and policy-related issues.
