The Senior Manager-Partner Oversight position is a unique and exciting opportunity to work with external acquiring partners and internal stakeholders to ensure partner adherence to program requirements. This role’s primary responsibility is executing Partner Oversight Engagements for Third Party Partners in support of the organization’s strategic initiatives, compliance, legal, risk and business partner needs, and keeping pace with industry practices while working with colleagues across the Global Acquisition Program Governance organization (policy, controls, technical capabilities, and enablement), Risk, Compliance, MIS Reporting, Partner Manager/Client Management teams, and the General Counsel's Office to develop and execute oversight programs that support key strategies, goals and objectives for the U.S. Small Merchants organization.

Requirements

  • Highly self-motivated, results-oriented individual with strong relationship building skills and proven ability to work cross-functionally to influence and negotiate with other Blue Box entities and external partners, drive change, and formulate and implement innovative policies and oversight requirements.
  • Significant experience in the payments industry. Knowledge of the merchant business preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Translate and interpret oversight strategies and develop and execute tactical plans to achieve strategies.
  • Oversight management experience is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to provide leadership and influence at various levels, strong collaborating and influencing skills, and an ability to work with complex Enterprise initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively in a matrix-managed environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills demonstrated fact-based problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to make tactical recommendations.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize and participate in a variety of complex projects simultaneously while being flexible and adaptable to change.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, including expertise in Debit

Responsibilities

  • Drive effectiveness and quality of Small Merchants’ external partner acquisition oversight programs, including execution of day-to-day stakeholder governance process and external partner adherence and engagement
  • Provide strategic and tactical input into the development and implementation of Small Merchants’ external partner governance and oversight program, including contractual, operating regulation, and Amex policy adherence
  • Analyze competitive intelligence to identify Amex strengths and gaps relative to industry standards and/or competition and incorporate into program enhancements
  • Manage multiple projects ranging small to large scale (implementing program changes, process improvements to small merchants and partners, etc.)
  • Serve as internal consultant and subject matter expert on the external partner acquisition programs
  • Strong advocate for the programs, with the ability to identify impacts and make decisions based on identified impacts
  • Secure alignment from internal stakeholders on an ongoing basis
  • Develop and implement oversight program strategy and process improvements to ensure year over year successful completion of reviews
