About The Position

The Senior Manager, Orthopaedic Operations provides strategic, operational, and financial leadership for the orthopaedic specialty within Pinehurst Surgical Clinic. This role is responsible for driving growth, optimizing performance, and ensuring high-quality, efficient patient care across all orthopaedic clinical and clerical functions. The Senior Manager partners closely with physician leaders and executive leadership to design, recommend, and implement innovative initiatives—such as recovery services, durable medical equipment (DME), and other revenue-generating programs—that support the long-term success of the orthopaedic practice. The Senior Manager manages one Orthopaedic Manager and provides oversight to Orthopaedic Leads, with ultimate accountability for all orthopaedic staff performance, engagement, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive operational and management experience, with significant experience in healthcare, orthopaedics and/or surgical services preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex organizations with multi-level management structures.
  • Strong strategic, financial, and operational acumen.
  • Proven ability to manage leaders and lead through influence and collaboration.
  • Experience developing and implementing growth initiatives and new service offerings.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with physicians, executives, and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for the orthopaedic service line aligned with organizational goals and physician priorities.
  • Identify, recommend, design, and implement orthopaedic initiatives to increase revenue and enhance patient services, including recovery shop operations, DME programs, and other financial and operational opportunities.
  • Develop and execute short- and long-term operational plans to support growth, scalability, and sustainability of orthopaedic practice.
  • Partner with physician leaders to evaluate service line performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support clinical excellence.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of orthopaedic services to ensure efficiency, quality, and patient satisfaction.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including productivity, access, patient flow, quality metrics, and financial performance.
  • Collaborate with finance and leadership to develop, manage, and monitor budgets for the orthopaedic service line.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and best practices in healthcare operations.
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and performance management for the Orthopaedic Manager.
  • Maintain ultimate accountabilities for all orthopaedic staff, ensuring effective leadership through Orthopaedic Leads.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention of high-performing orthopaedic staff in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Promote a patient-centered approach that delivers high-quality, safe, and efficient orthopaedic care.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to support standardization of workflows, best practices, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Serve as a key liaison between orthopaedics and other specialties, departments, and administrative teams within the multispecialty clinic.
