Position Overview The IT Senior Manager – R&D Systems will lead the strategic and operational management of R&D platforms supporting Shockwave Medical’s product development lifecycle. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless integration, performance, and compliance of critical R&D systems within the broader Johnson & Johnson MedTech ecosystem. You will be responsible for overseeing the support, enhancement, and governance of R&D Systems used in clinical trials, product design, and regulatory submissions. The role demands strong leadership, technical acumen, and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovation, efficiency, and compliance in a regulated medical device environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in IT Systems, preferably in MedTech or life sciences.
  • Proven leadership in managing R&D systems and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial systems, product development workflows, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Shockwave R&D systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of IT professionals and contractors supporting R&D systems.
  • Define and execute the roadmap for R&D systems aligned with Shockwave and JnJ MedTech goals.
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical, Regulatory, and Quality teams to understand evolving needs and translate them into scalable IT solutions.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations, incident management, and performance monitoring of R&D systems.
  • Ensure timely resolution of application issues and proactive system health checks.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including automation, integration, and user experience enhancements.
  • Ensure all systems comply with GxP, ISO, and JnJ design control requirements.
  • Maintain audit readiness and support internal/external inspections.
  • Manage data integrity, access controls, and cybersecurity protocols in collaboration with Cybersecurity organizaton.
  • Lead cross-functional projects including SSO migrations, system upgrades, and new tool implementations.
  • Manage vendor relationships and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Coordinate with JnJ IT Infrastructure and Technical Services to align support models and deployment strategies.
  • Support Shockwave’s integration into systems including ERP, MES, and Data platforms.
  • Facilitate training and onboarding for new tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Procurement to ensure alignment across business functions.
