Follett Content Solutions helps build a diverse collection of print and digital resources to support every student. We are currently hiring for Senior Manager, Human Resources. This position is an exempt full-time position paying $115,000 -$130,000 yearly plus bonus. We are looking for an onsite team member working in our McHenry, IL on a hybrid schedule of Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays in the office. Any pay range disclosed is based upon a combination of neutral factors such as required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certifications, seniority, etc. Follett Content Solutions reserves the right to provide any successful candidate a salary at the most appropriate level set as a result of such candidate’ qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certifications or seniority. Our Human Resources team supports approximately 750 team members (Warehouse, Exempt and Non-Exempt Team Members) both onsite and remotely. This position will be one of the point of contacts for the team members and managers for HR related items. The ideal candidate will have a proven relationship building among leaders and others throughout an organization. The Senior Manager, HR will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and operational excellence within the HR function for Follett Content Solutions. They will own the outcome of most projects, investigations, etc. This role includes regular monthly touch bases with leaders throughout the organization to understand their hiring needs, performance, training and career development. The ideal candidate will embed themselves in the business and understand how the business operates. This role includes developing best practices for promoting a positive workplace environment for employee morale and engagement. In addition, this position will oversee the programs for coaching and counseling on conflict resolution, enhancing performance management and conducting training for ongoing employee relations and investigations. Position will be the point person and/or partner with another junior member of the HR team for all employee relations issues, complaints, and investigations. Requirements

  • 12-15+ years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, PHR or SPHR certified preferred.
  • Ability to make high level decisions that require complexity and owns the outcome with limited assistance needed from leadership.
  • Strong relationship building among all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in human resource roles with at least seven years in HR Generalist Support
  • HRIS Experience, Paylocity experience a plus. Experience with assessing and implementing a HCM transition.
  • Ability to partner with senior leaders within the organization on matters of importance and complexity.
  • Extensive experience conducting and managing investigations of complex/sensitive workplace complaints, and government agency claims and audits, including EEOC and state discrimination charges, and internal ethics reports.
  • Experience in developing and delivering management training.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive information with absolute confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to multi-task, deals with ambiguity, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must have in depth knowledge of relevant state and federal employment laws.
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines at one time and deliver results timely.

Responsibilities

  • Assists team members (warehouse, office) with HR questions.
  • Mentors and develops junior members of HR team
  • Project Manage and/or recruitment for professional positions along with support of warehouse hiring when needed.
  • Partners with outside Recruitment Processing Outsourcing and acts as one of the main point of contacts.
  • Policy Maintenance and interpretation
  • Escalation point of contact for team members on majority of HR items, including benefits or leaves
  • Implements and monitors HR Compliance
  • I-9 & E-Verify Compliance
  • Manages day-to-day HR activities for the business.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects/deadlines at the same time.
  • New Hire Orientation for both office team members with support on warehouse new hire orientation as needed.
  • Onboarding/Offboarding of team members including reduction in force, outplacement, legal workbooks, creation and administration of agreements.
  • Participates in culture committee
  • Oversee the management of complex and sensitive employee concerns and investigations, including interpersonal conflict in the workplace, terminations, employee complaints, ethics reports, and allegations of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation from end to end. Ability to provide leadership with recommendations.
  • Review cases where an appeal has been requested by a team member who received corrective action.
  • Conducts and documents investigations, as appropriate, including remote or onsite interviews with key individuals, such as the complainant, accused, witness, subject matter experts as needed utilizing standard and probing questions to effectively collect pertinent facts and evidence needed to resolve the case. Researches and recommends action(s) to appropriately resolve cases and ensures that findings are documented in Case Management system consistently across the business unit.
  • Pro-actively recommends internal programs and/or training related to ongoing issues resulting from employee and manager feedback.
  • Coaches and provides training for managers on employee relation issues.
  • Partners with business on performance issues and performance improvement plans when necessary
  • Maintains confidential information/projects and ability to look at considerations from all aspects of the organization.
  • Manages the flow of responses for the HR related Ethics Hotline, facilitate investigations with manager and business leaders, and provide quarterly reporting on relevant metrics.
  • Partners with business and managers to address root causes of human resources issues, attempting to resolve employee relations issues with a systematic approach.
  • Maintains and updates personnel files within Paylocity.

  • Monitors HR email box and follow up as needed.

  • Assist with recruiting events when needed.
  • Assists during open enrollment including team member support along with system testing and attending open enrollment sessions.
