About The Position

Join our team in a pivotal leadership role ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality assurance. You'll oversee compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, lead strategic planning, drive enhancements, and collaborate across teams to integrate safety and quality standards into all aspects of our operations. Ensure Compliance: You'll ensure the plant meets quality and federal, state, and local food safety standards by conducting an in-depth review of the production process, leading routine testing and analysis, and leading investigations into incidents, quality issues, and complaints. Partner Across Teams: You'll partner across the plant and organization to ensure quality and food standards are incorporated into training and processes. You'll also collaborate with plant sanitation leadership to monitor, validate, and trend performance and processes. Lead Food Safety and Quality Programs: You'll lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality and food safety standards, policies, controls, and guidelines. You'll evaluate data from government-mandated third-party testing laboratories and regulatory inspections to identify areas of focus. Communicate Trends: You'll communicate trends and data regarding quality and food safety issues to relevant stakeholders. As a subject-matter expert for quality and food safety, you'll collaborate with stakeholders to reduce food safety and health risks and enhance compliance and product quality. Lead Strategic Plans: You'll lead the development and implementation of strategic plans by developing new, enhanced processes and procedures to manage risks. You'll also monitor new metrics, trend reports, and tracking tools, and create new training tools. Drive Enhancements: You'll drive food safety enhancements by reviewing food and health safety audits and regulatory inspection reports. You'll lead the development of processes, standards, and policies to ensure compliance with all regulatory and Walmart corporate expectations. You'll Sweep Us off Our Feet If You... Requirements

  • Have extensive experience in a senior food safety and quality assurance role, preferably in a food processing environment.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and have a proven ability to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Have excellent communication skills and have a proven ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Can expertly lead strategic plans and drive food safety enhancements.
  • Are committed to promoting and supporting company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in food science or related area (with a minimum of 8 credit hours each in microbiology and chemistry and 5 years' experience in food or dairy quality assurance .
  • Option 2: 10 years' experience in food or dairy processing quality assurance.
  • 1 year's supervisory experience, preferably in a manufacturing lab environment.
  • 2 years' Safe Quality Food (SQF) process experience or 2 years Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) process experience.
  • 1 year's experience utilizing Microsoft Office (for example, Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as SPC Programs and SAP.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training and/or certifications (for example, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Statistical Process Control (SPC)).
  • Manufacturing (for example, food processing, dairy processing), including laboratory and/or sanitation responsibilities.
  • Master's degree in Food Science, Biology, or related area.
