About The Position

Cincinnati State is seeking a talented financial professional to lead our financial planning and analysis (FP&A) function. The ideal candidate will combine finance and accounting skills with analytic and query skills to improve the College's strategic decision-making and lead efforts to improve the process efficiencies within the finance and accounting department. The position will report directly to the College's Chief Financial Officer and will work very closely with the Controller, Bursar/Treasurer, and Purchasing/Grant Accounting (and members of their teams). Successful candidates will be able to complete projects independently and possess a high degree of curiosity. As the leader of the College's FP&A you will have the opportunity to delivered value to the College in a manner that is not scripted. The successful candidate will combine the skills described herein with strategy and curiosity to own this position and develop the role and their own skills in ways that cannot be adequately described in a job description. The successful candidate will be joining one of the largest and most stable institutions of higher education in the region. The FP&A leader will be responsible for analyzing any data affecting the College's finances and provide strategic, tactical and ad hoc insight into results and forecasts. The position will be required to perform recurring work to support the finance and accounting department such as financial statement preparation, forecasts, support for the annual budget preparation, and recurring reports, reconciliations, and journal entries. Significant opportunity exists to streamline recurring duties throughout the department, and any candidate who can assist in streamline processes and reporting will be highly successful in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferably within Accounting.
  • Minimum 3 years of FP&A experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience in the following: o Understand and generate financial statements; o Extract data from enterprise level Accounting systems; o Generate queries from databases; o Manipulate data using excel (e.g., pivot table and other comparable excel formulas); o Build financial models (e.g., forecasts, budgets) in excel; o Generate accounting reconciliations o Create Journal Entries.
  • Must be competent in manipulating financial data using Excel, ERP systems, and Financial Tools by demonstrating the following.
  • Ability to draft queries and utilize analytic tools such as SQL, DAX, M Language, R, Python, Power Query, Power BI, Tableau, Informer, etc. is required.

  • Ability to complete work independently.
  • 5 years' experience of Financial Planning and Analysis.
  • Higher Education experience will be considered but is not required.
  • CPA and/or post-graduate degrees will be considered, but are not required.
