About The Position

Following the 2025 acquisition of Discover, this role involves a transformative journey to integrate the Discover Card business and catalyze innovation and growth. The candidate will lead the Finance team supporting Discover Card Customer Management activities and other horizontal FP&A processes for the total Discover Card portfolio. The ideal candidate will possess superior analytical skills, the ability to build collaborative partnerships, and exceptional problem-solving abilities in complex situations. As a Senior Manager, you will manage a small team, providing finance oversight and business support. Responsibilities include developing annual budgets, revising financial projections, producing monthly financial reports with variance explanations, investigating trends, performing consumer analytics to generate insights, and providing business input to achieve critical objectives. This role offers direct interaction with the Discover Card Business Leadership Team and senior leaders across the Card Finance Team. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, act as a strategic thought partner to senior business leaders, generate analytical insights into business performance, P&L, and consumer behavior, and deliver influential senior management presentations. They will partner with business leadership to assess financial implications of growth efforts, balance analytics with judgment, influence corporate decision-making, be a cultural beacon, attract and develop talent, challenge the status quo, and create sustainable processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or military experience
  • At least 7 years of experience in financial analysis, financial modeling, or a combination
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function
  • At least 1 year of people management experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Master’s Degree in Finance
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) license or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • 5+ years experience managing a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) function
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • 1+ year of people management experience managing both direct and indirect reports

Responsibilities

  • Developing the annual budget
  • Revising financial projections throughout the year
  • Producing monthly financial reports with corresponding variance explanations

  • Performing deep consumer analytics to generate insights

  • Financial and business performance reporting and variance analysis
