THE ROLE We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager, Domestic Tax to join our Corporate Tax team, reporting to the U.S. Domestic Tax Director. This role has primary responsibility and ownership of the U.S. federal and state income tax compliance function, including oversight of all domestic income tax filings, estimated tax payments, and return-related analytics. The ideal candidate is a proactive tax professional with strong technical expertise, excellent project management skills, and ability to lead a complete tax compliance lifecycle in a fast-paced environment. This role will partner closely with another Senior Tax Manager who leads the Global & U.S. income tax provision process, providing key inputs, analytics, and support as part of the quarterly and annual ASC 740 process and contributing to the global tax provision as needed. WHAT YOU'LL DO Income Tax Compliance – Primary Focus Own and manage the full U.S. federal and state income tax return compliance process, including preparation, review, and timely filing of all required returns. Oversee extensions, estimated tax calculations and payments, and compliance workflows end-to-end. Coordinate and manage external service providers to ensure high-quality and efficient compliance deliverables. Ensure all tax positions are appropriately supported, documented, and in accordance with tax law. Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners to gather and validate data needed for compliance. U.S. Income Tax Provision – Secondary Focus Partner with the Senior Tax Manager responsible for the Global income tax provision to support the quarterly and annual ASC 740 process. Prepare and/or review inputs and supporting components for the U.S. income tax provision, including stock-based compensation, uncertain tax positions, valuation allowance assessments, and footnote disclosures. Perform return-to-provision analysis and ensure proper reconciliation of tax accounts. Support aspects of the global tax provision as needed through coordination, data sharing, and review. Controls & Compliance Infrastructure Support SOX 404 internal control testing for U.S. income tax processes and maintain related documentation. Ensure all provision and compliance processes are documented, sustainable, and aligned with corporate governance and audit requirements. Projects, Research & Process Improvements Manage R&D tax credit studies and related documentation. Research complex tax issues and prepare technical memoranda and supporting materials. Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate compliance and provision processes, including leveraging tools like Alteryx. Partner with Accounting, Finance, Legal, Treasury, and other internal teams to ensure accurate and complete information flows for tax compliance and provision. Support tax considerations related to corporate initiatives, business transactions, M&A activity, and planning projects. Lead or support additional domestic tax projects and analyses as they arise. We are primarily an in-office environment and therefore, you will be expected to work from the Santa Clara, CA office in compliance with Pure’s policies, unless you are on PTO, or work travel, or other approved leave.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of corporate tax experience with a Big 4 firm and/or corporate tax department.
  • BA/BS in Accounting, Tax, or Finance.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal and state income tax and ASC 740.
  • Proven experience owning corporate income tax compliance and supporting income tax provision deliverables.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
  • Experience with Alteryx (or similar automation/data tools) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and Zuora preferred but not required.
