As a member of the CALA Asset Management team, the Sr. Manager of Development Asset Management serves as one of the key points of accountability for new hotel projects in CALA from development approval through opening, focusing on projects of low to moderate complexity. This role ensures seamless execution of hotel agreements and resolution of business issues throughout the development lifecycle—from deal closing through design, construction, and opening—by taking decisive action and mobilizing functional resources to deliver anticipated results on time and within budget. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Deliver projects efficiently: Facilitate the delivery of hotel projects of low to moderate complexity by meeting timelines, brand standards, and other contractual obligations to achieve the anticipated value. Lead stakeholder alignment: Plan and lead rollout meetings for assigned projects; influence and mobilize key cross-functional teams to ensure on time and accurate project completion / execution. Optimize processes: Leverage / Utilize project management systems and implement controls and processes to lead and monitor multiple projects, mitigate risks arising from various disciplines throughout the development and pre-opening phase, and streamline workflows. Manage contract and operational risks: Identify and address risks to approved value, including making necessary recommendations to modify management and/or other agreements; resolve issues proactively. Ensure timely and effective communication: Coordinate with key stakeholders to analyze/address project specific issues (e.g. funding/capitalization requirements, termination provisions, events that may result in default, insurance requirements, F&B leases and/or license agreement, etc.) and ensure owner satisfaction. Build strategic relationships: Foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to effectively influence business decisions and enhance collaboration. Drive continuous improvement: Contribute to process enhancements and participate in initiatives that improve operational efficiencies during the project development lifecycle; perform other duties to support evolving business needs, as required. Champion ethics and engagement: Promote integrity, social responsibility, cross-cultural effectiveness, and associate engagement. CANDIDATE PROFILE Key Talents and Experience 5+ years in operations and/or financial management experience with a global company. 2+ years in a management role with demonstrated success leading and developing others in a complex, service-intensive, deadline-driven environment. Knowledge and understanding of management and franchisee agreements and owner relations. Knowledge of key development, legal and operational issues related to real estate or hotel operations – fee valuation, debt and equity financing, foreclosure/bankruptcy, and brand equity. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to create solutions that mitigate business risks and maximize value. Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills—must be adept at influencing multiple internal and external stakeholders. Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills with proven analytical skills and an understanding of economic valuation and presenting complex data and concepts concisely to senior management and key stakeholders; uses data and a cogent problem-solving methodology in decision making and impact assessment. Collaborative mind set; eliminates redundancies, shares information openly / transparently, and builds trust across teams and key stakeholders. Decisive under pressure; challenges norms to improve efficiencies and effectiveness. Results-driven; prioritizes effectively to deliver high-quality, balanced outcomes in a timely manner. Proven leadership in translating business priorities into actionable goals and supporting teams. Process-oriented and responsive to multiple key stakeholders needs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Education and Professional Certification Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related discipline required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred. Spanish fluency required. Portuguese speaker preferred. LOCATION This position will be based at either MI Corporate HQ, CALA Plantation Office or Mexico HQ and will require some travel.
