The Senior Manager of Corporate Development leads strategic growth initiatives through mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, divestitures, and corporate strategy execution. This role is responsible for identifying, evaluating, and executing inorganic growth opportunities aligned with the company’s long-term strategic objectives. This position partners closely with executive leadership, finance, legal, operations, and business unit leaders to drive disciplined capital deployment, value creation, and post-transaction integration success. This is a HYBRID role (work on-site 3 days a week at our Reston, VA Amentum office). US Citizenship is required to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field required; MBA or CPA/CFA strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years of progressive experience in corporate development, investment banking, private equity, transaction advisory, or strategy consulting; and 8+ years in managerial experience
  • Experience leading complex M&A transactions end-to-end.
  • Strong experience with financial modeling, valuation, and investment analysis.
  • US citizenship is required.
  • Work on-site 3 days a week, work remote-telework 2 days a week.

  • Government contracting, aerospace & defense, infrastructure, engineering services, or federal services environment.
  • Experience navigating regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., FAR, DFARS, ITAR, security clearances).
  • Integration leadership in large-scale, multi-billion-dollar acquisitions.

Responsibilities

  • M&A Strategy & Execution Lead end-to-end M&A transactions, including target identification, valuation, financial modeling, due diligence, deal structuring, negotiation, and closing.
  • Develop and maintain strategic acquisition pipeline aligned with corporate growth priorities.
  • Conduct market and competitive analyses to inform inorganic growth strategy.
  • Prepare investment theses, executive presentations, and board materials.
  • Financial Analysis & Valuation Build and review complex financial models (DCF, LBO, accretion/dilution, synergy analysis).
  • Evaluate transaction economics, synergy opportunities, and integration risks.
  • Partner with FP&A, accounting, and treasury teams to assess capital structure and transaction funding strategies.
  • Due Diligence & Transaction Management Lead cross-functional diligence efforts across finance, legal, HR, IT, operations, and compliance.
  • Manage internal and external advisors including investment bankers, consultants, legal counsel, and accounting firms.
  • Drive deal timelines, governance, approvals, and documentation processes.
  • Integration & Value Creation Partner with integration leaders to support post-merger integration planning and execution.
  • Track synergy realization, financial performance, and strategic outcomes post-close.
  • Identify operational improvement and value creation opportunities within acquired entities.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Engagement Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on corporate strategy and inorganic growth.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with executive leadership and boards.
  • Build strong relationships with external partners, bankers, private equity firms, and industry leaders.
